This Rare Pink Dolphin Has Been Spotted By Boaters. Her Name Is Pinkie

What would you do if you were out on a boat for the day, enjoying some time with family or friends and suddenly, you saw most unusual dolphin jump out of the water? Dolphins are amazing to see in the first place, but this particular dolphin was bright pink! This is more than a fantastic story, it was a reality for some boaters in Louisiana.

This beautiful pink dolphin is no stranger to the people of Louisiana. She is quite beautiful and her skin is completely pink. When she decides to make an appearance, it often shocks and surprises the boaters in the area, to their delight!

Although it is known that dolphins have pink bellies, for one to have a completely pink body is quite rare. It is thought that pink dolphins have a genetic defect, known as albinism. Their bodies don’t produce the chemicals that cause the gray skin in other dolphins.

Aside from the fact that she has pink skin, she is just like any other dolphin.

Pinkie has been seen for years, but it wasn’t until recently that her gender was confirmed. Most people automatically thought female because of the colour but a picture taken during mating season finally revealed the truth.

Captain Eric Rue, a charter boat captain, managed to get a snapshot of her swimming in the water around Lake Charles. It turns out, she is a girl!

Captain Rue says he has taken many pictures of her to prove she is a female. He said that he was the first to see her and the first to take pictures of her.

Now that her gender is known, we hope that she may have some pink babies in the future.
